Dr. Rumbidzai Kapfumvuti was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. Throughout her upbringing, she witnessed the detrimental effects that HIV/AIDS stigma had in her country. Since that time, a passion to make a change was ignited and resulted in the creation of African Queens Rising. Dr. Kapfumvuti immigrated to the United States with her family at the tender age of twelve. She received both middle and high schooling in the capitol city of Washington DC. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science with a pre-medicine focus at the Pennsylvania State University. She then received a Master of Biomedical Sciences followed by a Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Kapfumvuti is currently completing her internal medicine residency at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She continues to be passionate about uplifting and creating opportunities for women and girls.
